In Which I Discuss Omaha

It’s official.

Aaron’s first day of work in Omaha will be August 10th. We have ten days given to us to move to Omaha before his first day of work. So, that means that we’ll most likely be moving somewhere close to the first of August.

Our three year wedding anniversary will be August 11th. So, that means that we’ll be Omaha people for our three year wedding anniversary. We were going to go to a hotel in LA that doubles as a casino for our anniversary … now we’ll be most likely sleeping on air mattresses while we wait for our belongings to be delivered to us.

Not only that … but we’re having to sell our beautiful new house. The house that we picked everything out in and built. The house that we brought Liam home to for the first time. OUR house. And now, someone else is going to be living in it. It’s just … sad.

We’ve been looking at houses in Omaha … but for the same price they aren’t as good. They have crappy countertops and laminate flooring. Not our nice tile and wood flooring or our granite countertops. The only plus is that some of them have basements and that’s pretty cool. But, that’s about it.

Liam’s first Christmas will be in Omaha … probably not with family. Luckily, Aaron will take vacation for his one year birthday, so we’ll be able to have everyone there for that. LUCKILY.

I’m trying to think of it as an adventure. But, the closer it gets the sadder I am. We’ll be going up to Omaha in the middle of June to look for houses … so maybe I’ll have a better view of where we’ll be calling our home after that trip. Maybe then I’ll start being excited.

We’ll see.

I know that Houston has the BEST cost/value ratio in the entire country, so we’ve been spoiled with affordable, luxury housing. It’s awful that this move comes RIGHT when your new house is complete and you’re getting settled in. Yall really made that house your own. But big things await you in Omaha, and you’re right – It’s an adventure! Keep your chin up and look forward to spending more time with Liam and not having crazy children threaten you in the hallways.

    • Thanks Christy, you’re right about all of that! It IS an adventure … and it’s great that I’ll get to stay home with my little man. And we’ll be able to come and visit, so that’ll be nice.

O my god. You might not be here for Aiden’s birth.

    This JUST occurred to me.
    I am crushed.

    • Yeah, I know what you mean. I’m really really really upset about it. I’m praying that you go just ONE WEEK Early so that I can meet that sweet little love.

Moving, no matter if you are moving where you want or not, is sooo stressful. It’s hard to get excited about moving. But the important part is that Liam has great parents who will make his first move easy peasy and Omaha will LOVE you guys. Or it better or I’ll come kick it’s ASS! Make sure you get a copy of the pets’ records and you might want to get their shots for the year done before you go since it’s a hassle to find a new vet. And if all else fails, I’m more than willing to help you kidnap all of your loved ones and move everyone here to Cali 😉 Let me know if you need any help researching anything or anything at all! I’m here!

    • Thanks Trish! I sure would be much happier if they were telling us that we were moving to California instead 🙂
